Tristan - 2 years old!

What a big milestone! Tristan seemed to understand the whole concept of a birthday this time. It was so much fun to see him enjoying the entire birthday experience! He was very excited about all the presents and cake, and especially blowing out the candles on the cake.

It feels like his 1-year birthday was just yesterday, but so much has changed since then. Tristan is talking up a storm now, especially when there's no one else around. He can say the entire alphabet now, usually only skipping a couple of letters here and there, and can count from 1-10 in both English and Chinese. He can also string words together into short sentences -- here are some of our favorites:

"Big train...Tristan...ride"
"Eeeeew...cat poop...daddy clean-up!"
"Busy street...cars coming...careful"
"Run away...mama sad..."
"Hippo dog...broken...daddy fix" (referring to an animated you-tube clip...we tell him the computer is broken because we don't want him addicted to watching videos all the time)

Tristan loves being outdoors, and is fascinated by water. He also loves having books read to him and songs at bedtime. At this time, it seems that he aspires to become a garbage man when he grows up -- constantly goes around pretending to pick up garbage cans and dumping them out...sound effects and all. Either that, or perhaps a cook, as he also loves pretend-cooking with our old pots and pans. Tristan is quite the active kid, and can run really FAST now. It is very hard to keep up with him, especially while toting another infant at the same time.

It is amazing to see how much and how quickly he learns new things everyday. Wonder what the next year will be like...

Austin - 2 months old

Austin turned 2 months old last Friday. He is a very happy baby and smiles and coos all the time now. His latest development is that he can push himself over from his stomach to his back. Lloyd got to witness that one first!

Beautiful Day in the Gorge

Yesterday was a beautiful day, and we just had to get out. We drove into the Columbia Gorge and stopped at 3 different waterfalls: LaTourelle, Wahkeena, and Multnomah Falls. Austin did great and slept in the sling most of the time. Tristan loved seeing the waterfalls and feeling the cold spray against his face. We also had a fun picnic lunch where Tristan enjoyed seeing the bluejays try and steal our bread!
