August Update

Well, another month has gone by in the blink of an eye. I apologize for the lack of postings, but I'll try to update at least once a month. We have survived my return to work so far. It has been 3 weeks, and I have been able to adjust to the office environment again. Amazingly, in some ways it feels like I never left! Austin finally decided to take the bottle after a couple of weeks at daycare, and he is sleeping MUCH better at night starting this week. I find that I really only have to get up once or twice a night now, so it is a whole lot easier for me to function at work during the day! Some of you have asked what my days are like -- here's a quickie summary: 5am wake up and shower; work from home until 7am; wake up the kids (yes, ironically they usually sleep really well at this time and I have to wake them up) and get them to daycare at 7:45am, get myself to work at 8am, 10am pump, 12pm visit Austin at daycare to feed him, work, 3pm pump again, 5:30pm go home, 6pm dinner, 7:30-8:30 get the kids to bed, make lunches and pack bags for the next day, 9:30 bedtime. Exhausting, but I would never trade this experience of having a family for anything! All of you parents out there know what I mean...Also, thank goodness we have some excellent help from my parents and friends!

Last weekend, we had a few guests come up for a visit. My good friend, Apple, from high school, and her family Bill, Torin, and Rowan drove up all the way from Reno to come see us! It was such a fun weekend as the boys are all about the same ages. Torin and Tristan are only a couple of weeks apart, and baby Rowan and Austin are only a month apart. We all had a wonderful time together, especially the older boys who got into plenty of trouble together, especially with the garden hose :)

Back to work!

The last month of my maternity leave flew by faster than ever. Here we are on the eve of my return to the office, and I'm not too thrilled about it. Not one bit!!! We've been so busy I haven't had time to post at all this month, so here's a bunch of pictures from throughout the month.

We had an awesome July, starting with our road-trip down the Oregon Coast. The boys did great in the car most of the time, and we had so much fun on the beach (even though it was a bit chilly) and down in Ashland for the 4th of July.

Tristan is talking so much now, and is becoming very independent. He loves picking raspberries and blueberries from our backyard. We enrolled him in a tumbling class this month, which he totally loved! Austin is 4 months old now and loves to laugh. He can roll over on his own, push himself up to a standing position, and loves playing in the exersaucer.

We got to play with 8-week old black panther cubs at the petting zoo. What a treat!

Lorikeets at the Oregon Zoo. Tristan's not sure what to think about the bird on his head...

I don't think the boys have enough stuffed animals.
